How to buy a Refrigerator

Consider the energy efficiency

The refrigerator contributes the biggest to your electric bill since it is turned on 24/7. To make sure you get an efficient refrigerator, ask an ABENSON personnel about two things:

Check the ENERGY EFFICIENCY RATIO of the refrigerator you intend to buy. Remember that high EER means your appliance consumes less energy.

Determine the CUBIC FEET of the refrigerator. The larger the refrigerator/ freezer, the more electricity it will consume. If you don't store a lot of food at one time, your household size is small, and you make frequent small purchase trips to the grocery, then a smaller refrigerator would be more advisable. ABENSON recommends you to use the quick reference below as a guide in choosing the best size for your refrigerator within the budget you have in mind.

Consider the features

A refrigerator with a separate door for the freezer is more energy efficient than a one-door refrigerator because the temperature required in the freezer is higher compared to the other parts such as vegetable crisper.

No frost models are more convenient than manual defrost. With the former, you don't need to defrost or clean your freezer regularly of large ice particles. Manual Defrost models are less expensive compared with no-frost models , however in the long run you might realize maintenance due to regular cleaning and electricity bill will make it more costly to own.

Models with a built in ice maker and through the door water dispenser is more efficient since you don't need to open the freezer to get ice or water.

Consider the color

Some refrigerator/freezer are available in different colors. White or silver will be the safest choice because it can blend with different wall and flooring shades.

Before buying a refrigerator, have the dimensions of the space allocated for your appliance ready. Inform your ABENSON Sales personnel of any space requirement so we may choose what fits best.
